House of Funk is looking to add a member to our brewing team in the role of Brewer! The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years experience working in a brewery and be confident in performing all tasks from wort production to cellaring to packaging. 

As a Brewer, you will have responsibilities in all areas of brewing operations. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Under the direction of our Head Brewer and Lead Brewer, assisting in the completion of day-to-day operations of all aspects of the brewing production facility – brewing, cellaring, packaging, yeast management, quality control, and grain handling.
  • Ensuring a safe and regulatory compliant work environment.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of all equipment, tanks, and work areas.
  • Completion of brew sheets, inventory, and necessary paperwork. We use Ekos - previous knowledge of this brewery management system is a bonus, however not necessary.
  • Evaluating and monitoring the quality of beer and raw materials.
  • Carrying out expected QA/QC protocols.
  • Adhering to standard operating and safety procedures in wort production, vessel cleaning and sanitation, yeast handling, fermentation and maturation, sample collecting and filtration operations.
  • Participating in beer festivals and events, once permitted.
  • Performing all tasks involved in the packaging process, including canning + bottling operations and filling kegs.
  • Troubleshooting and reporting any mechanical issues.
  • Other brewery-related tasks that may require assistance.
  • Requires the ability to work in a fast paced, wet, loud production environment on one’s feet for most of the day and repeatedly lift 50 kg+.
  • Ensuring that House of Funk remains and promotes being an inclusive space for all.

    • An active Serving it Right Certification.
    • 1+ years of hospitality experience.
    • A willingness to learn more about the brewing and roasting processes within House of Funk. 
    • Able to work well under pressure & emotional control in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience working in a taproom/brewery environment is an asset
  • Past barista experience is an asset 

    As one of our taproom team members, you will be responsible for:

    • Providing superior customer service and showcasing your hospitality skills to create a welcome environment for every guest.
    • Maintaining a high standard of quality service and making suggestions for continued improvement.
    • Ensuring that House of Funk remains and promotes being an inclusive space for all. 
    • Serving our delicious coffee, beer and food and everything that goes along with that such as bussing and cleaning. 
    • Running the espresso bar, including making all applicable drinks and cleaning the machine.
    • Following all safety protocols. 
    • Being knowledgeable about our menu items and the processes behind them.
