ON THE BRINK // Costa Rica Natural

Reminds us of: white peach, rose, orange marmalade.
A limited release of 2121 cans, “On The Brink” is a coffee commemorating the 2024 Bitcoin “halving”, an event which happens roughly every four years.
This year’s halving is  be the third reduction in the issuance of newly mined Bitcoin, as the issuance trends towards zero, leaving a hard-cap of only 21 million coins ever to exist. This event carries great significance, even though it has been pre-programmed since Bitcoin’s inception in 2009, and happena automatically regardless of any fanfare.
“On the Brink” is a reference to the headline of a newspaper article published by the Times on January 3rd, 2009: Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks — words which were then inscribed onto the first Bitcoin block by Satoshi Nakamoto. The article reported on bailouts granted to banks who had taken on too much risk, at the expense of the savings of purchasing power of billions of people. As a rejection of easy money, socialism serving the rich, crony capitalism, etc., Bitcoin proposes to eliminate such instances of debt and excessive consumption with a system that retains the value of hard-earned savings... like the gold of yesteryears.
We sourced this coffee from Volcan Azul, a multi-generation family business in Costa Rica whose operations embrace the tradition of quality, ecological preservation, and hard work. Costa Rica, a hitherto Bitcoin-friendly country and home to communities like “Bitcoin Jungle”, recently proposed legislation that poses to hinder the use of Bitcoin for everyday transactions — so we hope this Costa Rican coffee raises awareness about Bitcoin and how it can create freedom, prosperity, and sustainability for humanity.
